Participation in IODP expeditions is open to scientists, engineers, professors, research scientists, technologists, and graduate students from all IODP member countries. Each IODP expedition includes a staff of up to 30 scientists and engineers from the IODP Member countries.
IODP expeditions offer the possibilities to sail on (1) the JOIDES Resolution, a riserless vessel managed by the United States Implementing Organization (USIO), (
2) a Mission Specific Platform managed by the ECORD Science Operator (ESO), and (3) the Chikyu, a riser drilling vessel managed by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).
Interested Dutch scientists should apply directly to the ESSAC Office. A copy of the completed application form should also be forwarded (by email or mail) to the Dutch IODP secretariat: see Contact. Information on program schedules, project descriptions, application procedures, and required forms for ECORD participation in IODP expeditions is available from the ESSAC Secretariat.
For additional information on current expeditions and application procedures please contact the IODP-NL office (Lucas Lourens - llourens@geo.uu.nl).
